This is a matter that seemed to have been settled for a long time. For several weeks, everyone, Côme, OM and Pau Lopez, had agreed on a move for the goalkeeper to the promoted Italian team. The Phocéens, who are looking to renew a large part of their squad, have not closed the door on offering a new goalkeeper for De Zerbi’s project. Pau Lopez has never been against a change of scenery after three lively seasons on the Canebière and Côme saw it as a good deal to try to stay in Serie A.

The discussions therefore went quite quickly even if the first offers did not satisfy the Marseille management. This little world ended up agreeing. About ten days ago, we revealed to you that Pau Lopez and the club managed by Cesc Fabregas had even agreed on the terms of a contract. Even further back since we have to go back to the beginning of July, OM and Côme concluded a deal: a loan with a mandatory purchase option. The Phocéenss had nevertheless set one condition before the final green light: finding a replacement.

Côme is getting impatient

The weeks go by and the complications come one after the other. The Illan Meslier case was quickly sidelined, while Filip Jorgensen, Villarreal’s goalkeeper, is too expensive for the Olympians’ finances. The Yellow Submarine is asking for €20 million. The last particularly worked lead, the one leading to Alvaro Valles but this time the French club came up against the Andalusian’s salary demands which were far too high. Despite a more interesting offer from OM in favor of Las Palmas, the 26-year-old bulwark prefers to return to Betis, another club present in this case.

The goalkeepers’ ordeal does not seem to be over yet. This time, it is Como who is starting to get impatient with the slow pace of operations. Despite its desire to recruit Lopez, the Lombard club is forced to prepare a plan B. According to Sky Italya first contact has been made with Emil Audero (27 years old). The Italian goalkeeper is currently under contract with Sampdoria, who were relegated to Serie B two seasons ago. On loan last season to Inter where he was Sommer’s understudy, he would probably like to stay in the elite, especially as a starter…
