OM sale: The new twist

While he has been announcing for three years that the sale of Olympique de Marseille has been completed, Thibaut Vézirian, if he maintains his information, has suggested that the formalization of the arrival of the Saudis could not take place before 2028 .

The sale of Olympique de Marseille is obviously not happening right away. Alone and against almost everyone, Thibaud Vézirian continues to ensure the sale of the Marseille club to Saudi investors is completed, and all that is missing is the formalization of the transaction. But it has been three years, exactly, that the journalist has been speaking more or less the same way.

On Monday, an Internet user asked Thibaud Vézirian how long this famous formalization could take, which is long overdue. The response made OM supporters jump. “It could be between two to six years, or seven years. It depends on the contingencies, it depends on the business”replied TV in its daily live on Twitch.

If we follow through with the idea, the sale of OM could therefore not be finalized until 2027 or 2028. As a reminder, here is what Thibaud Vézirian said on February 5, 2021 when he let go his scoop. “ Everything suggests that it is closed, he assured. OM will be redeemed in the coming hours, in the coming days. » The journalist then mentioned a press release “already written”, “under proofreading. »

Vézirian still has “guarantees” that OM will be bought

These last three years, marked by regular denials from Frank McCourt, have not really moved the issue forward. But Thibaud Vézirian does not budge. “OM is in the situation of a company, of a club, which is only waiting for formalization. We can’t say we didn’t say it. (…) We still have the sources and the guarantees that this happens”he insisted once again on Monday, in response to questions from Internet users.

Thibaud Vézirian also mentioned the rumors which suggest a takeover of AS Rome by the Saudi sovereign fund, the PIF, which would be likely to compromise a concomitant arrival in Marseille. “We don’t care about Roma, it has nothing to do with OM. It is not new that Saudi Arabia is prospecting in Italy. »
