Pablo Longoria took the floor to speak on an important transfer.

Over the years, he had established himself as one of the darlings of the Stade Vélodrome, thanks to his personality, his combativeness and his loyalty. Against all expectations, Mattéo Guendouzi packed his bags last summer to join Lazio Rome. A transfer which disappointed many supporters of Olympique de Marseille.

This transaction from Guendouzi to Lazio was finalized in the form of a loan accompanied by a purchase obligation of around 18 million euros (with bonus). Questioned about this operation, Pablo Longoria wanted to provide some important details.

Longoria’s explanations on this transfer

According to the president of Olympique de Marseille, it was the player himself who requested his departure the previous winter. “ Mattéo is a very charismatic person, with a strong personality.explained the manager for So Foot. At the same time, he was two years from the end of his contract, at a time when he had lost playing time, and where his value on the market was in danger of declining. And then, it’s also important to say things: it was Mattéo himself who came to see me during the winter transfer window telling me that we had to prepare for his departure for the following summer“.

A version which is reminiscent of Longoria’s explanations concerning Chilean striker Alexis Sanchez.
