OM, the scandal is becoming clearer

OM have targeted Mason Greenwood and have just made an offer to Manchester United. The English striker, accused of domestic violence in 2022, could be loaned with a mandatory purchase.

The Pablo Longoria-Medhi Benatia duo at the head of OM made a particularly questionable choice, that of wanting to recruit Mason Greenwood. The English international, 22 years old, is a talented striker, with a superb left foot and is coming off a great season with 10 goals and 6 assists in 36 matches with Getafe. His recruitment could be a sporting success and a great financial one because not many people want to welcome him to their club…

And for good reason. If Greenwood was sent to La Liga by Manchester United, on loan, it is obviously because he was sidelined at the Red Devils after being plunged into a huge scandal from January 2022. The player was accused of domestic violence and attempted rape by the British justice system after abominable images posted by his girlfriend on social networks. Before the charges were dropped due to the “withdrawal of key witnesses and new evidence” in February 2023.

XXL recruitment for OM?

Despite the obvious scandal that would accompany his arrival in Marseille, the leaders of the Marseille club have officially taken action by making an offer to Man United, as indicated by the Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano. OM is moving because only Valencia had made an offer for Greenwood, apparently for 30 million euros! The sum is enormous, but the Mancunian club is open to a deal in the form of a loan with a mandatory purchase. This would allow the payment to be spread over several years.

Mason Greenwood suddenly exploded with Man United in the 2019-20 season, at the age of 17, finishing with 17 goals in 49 appearances in all competitions. He had become one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s main attacking weapons. Erik ten Hag, meanwhile, brought in Brazilian winger Antony from Ajax for €100 million. It was a resounding flop.
