Olympique de Marseille is lively this summer 2024. After the arrival of Roberto De Zerbi on the Marseille bench, the upper echelons of the Marseille club got their hands on Elye Wahi, Valentin Carboni, Lilian Brassier, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, Jeffrey de Lange, Derek Cornelius, Geronimo Rulli, Ismael Koné, Mason Greenwood and more recently Jonathan Rowe. In addition to these numerous recruits and at a time when the Neal Maupay and Yacine Adli cases remain current, OM is also working on departures.

As a reminder, many players are invited to leave OM, like Samuel Gigot, Ulisses Garcia, Jordan Veretout or Chancel Mbemba. And it is precisely for the latter that things are moving. Once mentioned on the Rennes side, the 30-year-old defender had finally rejected the Breton proposal before being suspended after a slip-up against Ali Zarrak, manager and right-hand man of Medhi Benatia.

Bologna looks into the Mbemba case

Sanctioned with a salary deduction of around ten days, the former Porto player therefore sees the noose tightening and a departure could, today, satisfy all parties. With this in mind, we revealed to you in the last few hours that the Saudi club Al-Ittihad, where Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kanté, Houssem Aouar and Moussa Diaby play, was currently looking for a central defender and greatly appreciated Mbemba’s profile. But that’s not all.

According to our latest information, another team is also in the running. Thus, through the famous agent Federico Pastorello, the Bologna club, in search of an experienced defender, wishes to express its interest in the Marseille defender. If initial discussions have already taken place for the Congolese international (85 caps, 6 goals), the different parties will now have to find common ground. One thing is certain, Mbemba does not lack suitors…
