OM under pressure because of a kid?

OM supporters have taken to social media to try to convince their leaders not to let their nugget Enzo Sternal slip away.

Olympique de Marseille fans may have appreciated the start of their club’s recruitment campaign and the promises made by the management, but they are not yet ready to validate everything that Pablo Longoria and Mehdi Benatia will do on the transfer front. Especially if it means preventing them from seeing one of their protégés in action next season. Winner of the Coupe Gambardella with OM last season and member of the France U17 team, Enzo Sternal is currently in deep discussions with the Marseille management for a contract extension that will prevent him from leaving on a free in the near future.

And on social media, fans are going wild for the young attacking midfielder, who is said to be being followed by several top clubs, even in France, including Olympique Lyonnais. The rumor of interest from the big rival has caused a wave of indignation and concern on social media. Thus, a campaign in the form of a hashtag, #EnzoEstOlympien, was created on X this week, to encourage the Longoria-Benatia tandem to extend Sternal’s contract at all costs, whom the club had recruited from Nancy two years ago. The hashtag ended up trending on X and was seen by the person concerned, who was quick to like these expressions of confidence.

Another kid destined to go free?

Nothing is certain yet, however, regarding the future of Enzo Sternal at OM. Having appeared in the preparation matches with Roberto De Zerbi – he notably won a penalty against Toulon (3-0) a week ago – the 17-year-old player would like guarantees regarding frequent appearances on the pitch and a constant presence in the professional group. Other clubs would be able to offer him said guarantees and Olympique de Marseille, who seem to be pushing to recruit the Argentinian Valentin Carboni from Inter, will have to question their ability to satisfy their nugget.

To the great displeasure of supporters, several promising players have left the club in the past without financial compensation, such as Boubacar Kamara, who left at the end of his contract for Aston Villa.
