IMG Credit: WWEThey’re still growing. We are less than two weeks away from Summerslam and that means it is time for WWE to really hammer home the card. While most of the big matches have already been set, there are still some spots that needed to be filled. There is not much time left to do so, meaning WWE needed to act fast, which is exactly what they did in a double shot this week.

Two more matches were added to the Summerslam card this week on SmackDown. First up, Bron Breakker defeated Ilja Dragunov via referee stoppage to become #1 contender to Sami Zayn’s Intercontinental Title. This will be a rematch from Money In The Bank where Zayn defeated Breakker. Next, CM Punk announced that he was cleared to return to the ring, followed by General Manager Adam Pearce lifting Drew McIntyre’s suspension. As a result, Pearce made a grudge match between the two and appointed Seth Rollins as guest referee. Summerslam is set for August 3 in Cleveland.

Opinion: This is the kind of night that the show needed as Summerslam is now getting close to its full capacity. With less than two weeks to go, there is only so much time left to get things ready. The good thing is that these matches were already at least somewhat set up, so this wasn’t exactly out of nowhere. Now the point is to make the show itself work, which is much easier said than done.
