The Police Service Commission has announced the appointment and redeployment of six Commissioners of Police to various state commands across Nigeria.

The appointments follow recent promotions in the Nigeria Police Force, approved by the Commission last week.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the PSC spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, CP Shettima Mohammed has been assigned to the Nasarawa State Command, while CP Rabiu Mohammed will now lead the Kaduna State Command. Similarly, CP Adepoju Adewale has been posted to the Rivers State Command.

The statement further noted that CP Mohammed Azare will assume leadership of the Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Wilfred Afolabi has been appointed to the Ondo State Command, and CP Joseph Eribo, who previously served in Akwa Ibom, has been redeployed to the Ekiti State Command.

The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Deputy Inspector General Hashimu Argungu (retd), described the appointments as a call to national service.

“He implored them to remain committed to the Government’s efforts to stabilise the nation and ensure that all states are free from crime and criminality. DIG Argungu stated that the Commission would closely monitor their progress and encourage their success in their new roles. He also urged them to reciprocate the Government’s gesture by rededicating themselves to the service of their fatherland,” the statement added.
