The National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the South-West Zone, Kamorudeen Ajisafe, has expressed confidence that the ongoing leadership crisis within the party will not hinder its success in the upcoming Ondo State governorship election scheduled for November.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Ajisafe emphasized that the PDP’s candidate, Agboola Ajayi, remains well-positioned to win the election despite internal challenges.

He reassured supporters that efforts are underway to resolve the party’s leadership issues, adding that the electorate still trusts the PDP to bring about positive change.

Ajisafe further stated that many Nigerians, particularly voters in Ondo State, are disappointed with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) due to its perceived poor performance, and are looking to the PDP for better governance.

Our chances are strong,” Ajisafe noted. “Politicians from various parties are joining us because they believe in the PDP’s vision. We’re confident of winning this election, given the widespread support we’ve received.”

He also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to ensure fairness and neutrality during the election.

Ajisafe urged them to uphold the principles of democracy for the sake of the nation’s future.

Addressing the ongoing leadership crisis, Ajisafe downplayed its impact, describing the factional disputes within the National Working Committee (NWC) as mere misunderstandings rather than signs of a deeper crisis.

He assured party members and supporters that the situation would not affect the party’s chances in the forthcoming election.
