The monarch of Afa-Okeagbe community in Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State, Oba Mofolorunso Arasanyin, has called on the state government and other stakeholders to invest and improve the infrastructure facilities in the community.
The first-class traditional ruler also appealed to the residents of the community to cooperate with him towards harnessing the cultural, social, and economic potentials of the community to enhance the quality of life, and preserve the rich cultural heritage of the people.
He made the call in Afa-Okeagbe Akoko in his palace during the presentation of the Staff of Office to him as the monarch of the community on Friday, August 30, 2024.
Oba Arasanyin said, “I must acknowledge the tireless efforts of administration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to advance the course of providing new infrastructure, improving healthcare, enhancing education, and boosting economic opportunities across the state.
“We are particularly grateful for the projects and initiatives that have directly benefited our town, bringing us closer to the vision we all share of a prosperous and vibrant community.
“However, we also know that there is still much work to be done. Our roads, schools, hospitals, and other essential services require more attention and investment. We look forward to working closely with the Ondo State government to address these needs, and we are confident that, together, we can achieve remarkable results.”
In his remarks, the state governor Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa who congratulated the people of the community on the peaceful selection of their new monarch stated the historical importance of the Ajana stool, which became vacant following the passing of Oba Oladunjoye Fajana in February 2023.
“I commend the kingmakers for their sincere and invaluable roles in the emergence of the new monarch. This demonstrates their commitment to the welfare and development of Afa -Okeagbe.
“While we strive to promote and enhance the position of our traditional rulers, it is expected that the government’s efforts will be reciprocated through actions that support and complement our initiatives,” Aiyedatiwa said.
