Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa

The Ondo State Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has pledged to make workers’ welfare a top priority if re-elected in the upcoming November 16 governorship election, declaring that the days of part-payment and percentage-based salaries are gone in the state.

Aiyedatiwa made this assurance on Wednesday while addressing members of the National Union of Local Government Employees during the NULGE Day ceremony held in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

At the event, the union unanimously endorsed the governor’s candidacy for the election, honouring him with an award as the Grand Patron of the union.

Speaking to the workers, Aiyedatiwa said, “I understand that your presence here today is not just to show numbers but to express your solidarity with me, and I deeply appreciate that. Workers’ welfare will be a top priority under my administration. The era of delayed salaries, part-payment of wages, and percentage-based salaries is over in Ondo State.”

The governor further announced the approval of leave bonuses for mainstream civil servants in the state, pledging to intensify efforts in ensuring the welfare of workers if re-elected.

In his remarks, the state President of NULGE, Mr. Fredrick Akinrilola, praised the governor for consistently addressing the union’s concerns and prioritizing the welfare of its members.

He explained that the union’s decision to endorse Aiyedatiwa was based on his track record of improving working conditions and ensuring that workers’ voices are heard.

“We have witnessed remarkable growth and progress under your leadership. You have always shown a genuine commitment to our issues, and this is why we, as a union, have unanimously decided to endorse you as our preferred candidate for the November 16 gubernatorial election,” Akinrilola said.

He added, “Governor Aiyedatiwa has always been there for us, and we believe that with him, the future of local government employees in Ondo State is secure.”

The endorsement by NULGE comes as Aiyedatiwa intensifies his re-election campaign, with workers’ welfare taking centre stage in his administration’s promises.
