Ahead of the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State, the monarch of Ajapa Kingdom in Ese Odo Local Government Area, Oba Godwin Aboyewa has called on the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Mr Agboola Ajayi, to address the ongoing sea incursion threatening Ayetoro Community in Ilaje Local Government Area.

The coastal community has been grappling with relentless sea incursion for some time, and the monarch urged Ajayi to prioritise this issue if elected in the upcoming election.

While welcoming Ajayi’s campaign team to Ajapa Kingdom on Tuesday, Oba Aboyewa appealed to him to assist with the reclamation of Ayetoro from the encroaching sea, which endangers the community’s survival.

The monarch said, “If you are elected, we are appealing to you to save the Ayetoro Community from sea incursion. If Ayetoro is not saved from total extinction, Ajapa Kingdom may also be at risk of the rapacious effects of its extinction.”

While responding, the PDP candidate, Ajayi, assured the king that the Ayetoro community would be saved from extinction if he was elected as the governor of the state.

Ajayi said, “I want to appreciate the brotherly love you have displayed here today that you want us to save the Ayetoro community from total extinction and that is the high level of patriotism you have shown us today. I can assure you, sir, if we get to office by next February, we will chase the sea away from Ayetoro Community by at least 2 kilometres. It is not going to be by magic but is something we are prepared to do.”

The PDP candidate also visited some towns and villages in the Ese Odo LGA (his local government origin), where he promised not to disappoint the people.

While addressing the large crowd, Ajayi assured his people, saying, “I will never disappoint you, and all development needed in Ese Odo LG, I will surely address without any stress.”
