One of the doctors facing charges relating to the death of Matthew Perry has reached a plea deal that could carry a lengthy prison sentence. The Friends star, who played Chandler Bing on the popular sitcom, passed away at the age of 54 in October 2023. His cause of death was determined to be from “acute effects of ketamine.” Earlier this month, multiple arrests were made in relation to his death. His personal assistant and several doctors faced charges. On Friday (August 30), one of the doctors pleaded guilty after reaching an agreement. Keep reading to find out more… According to reporting by Fox59, Dr. Mark Chavez pleaded guilty to a count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine. He could face up to 10 years in prison. The doctor “admitted he obtained the ketamine from his former clinic and from a wholesale distributor where he submitted a fraudulent prescription.” Matthew‘s assistant Kenneth Iwamasa and a friend Eric Fleming have both also pleaded guilty. All three of them will work with the U.S. Attorney’s Office to build a case against Jasveen Sangha and Dr. Salvador Plasencia, who have been charged with conspiracy to distribute ketamine amongst other charges.
