Barcelona’s record against Bayern Munich heading into tonight’s clash at Estadi Olimpic de Lluis Companys is anything but promising.

The Germans have won all of the last six games they have played against the Catalans, scoring 22 goals and conceding just four in the process.

The Blaugrana, meanwhile, have not scored in their last four games against Bayern and it is safe to say that the 8-2 defeat in Lisbon served as a massive psychological blow for the team.

One player in particular who has taken it upon himself to inflict damage in Barcelona is Thomas Muller and it is not surprising that his goalscoring record against the club is frightening.

The best record in Europe

Muller is the player who has scored the most goals against Barcelona in UEFA Champions League history with eight goals in nine games.

He first scored against the Catalan in the semifinals of the 2012-13 season when he scored three goals over two legs to take his team through to the finale.

Two years later, the famous MSN trio took Barcelona past the Germans in the semifinals but Muller once again managed to score one goal in the reverse fixture.

In the famous 8-2 demolition of Barcelona, the veteran attacker served as a protagonist with two goals and an assist to his name, taking his tally to six goals.

When the two European giants locked horns in the 2021-22 group stage, he opened the scoring in both meetings and reached his current tally of eight goals against Barcelona.

One year later, two two teams played again but Muller did not find the back of the net.

With Jamal Musiala injured, Muller could well serve as a starting midfielder later tonight and will thus look to extend his impressive record over the Spanish giants.

Needless to say, Hansi Flick must be wary against a player who was an asset to him just a few seasons ago.
