Despite boasting an impressive run of form heading into the fixture, Amad Diallo found himself dropped from the starting 11 when Manchester United locked horns with Liverpool on Sunday.
It was a questionable decision from Erik ten Hag and one that fans immediately took issue with when reacting to the line-up on social media.
Prior to the game, Amad had been granted five consecutive Premier League starts, returning two goals and one assist in that time. His most recent contribution came in the previous match when notching the Reds’ only goal of the game in the 2-1 defeat at the Amex – hence why his omission raised eyebrows.
Ten Hag opted for a wing pairing of Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford, the latter of which looks a shadow of the prolific version of himself we witnessed in 2022/2023.

Amad’s admirable attacking intent
Yet, when Amad entered the fold in the 69th minute, his impact was evident almost imminently, and it’s only further backed up by the statistic he recorded on the night.
Per StatmanDave, the 22-year-old carried the ball into Liverpool’s penalty area twice as many times as any of his teammates, doing so in just 22 minutes on the pitch.
