Super Eagles defender Bruno Onyemaechi has sent a cryptic message to Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly after scoring his first goal of the season for Boavista in their 2-2 draw against Estrela in the Portuguese topflight on Monday night, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Following last week’s  impressive outings with Nigeria in their 2025 AFCON qualifying matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda, the Nigeria international returned to his club’s lineup for his fifth league appearance of the season and made an immediate impact, scoring the opening goal in the 23rd minute to give Boavista an early lead.

The defender was later shown a red card, but the decision was overturned by the VAR as the game ended 2-2.

“Scored my first goal of the season today (Monday); make una help me tag Todd Boehly abeg I wan see something (please help me tag Boehly, I want to see something),” the player wrote on X in the wake of the performance on Tuesday.

The players’ joke isn’t unconnected to the summer signing spree of Chelsea, which took their spending to €1.32bn since Boehly and Co. took over in 2022.

The goal was Onyemaechi’s second for the club since joining them in the 2022/23 season.

The 25-year-old had joined the Portuguese club on loan from Firense in the 2022/23 season, but the deal was sealed permanently in August 2023 for a reported fee of €1m until the summer of 2026.

He scored his first goal and also registered his first assist during his first campaign with the club, making 29 appearances in the league.

Last season, he also recorded one assist in 24 games.

After just five games this season, the defender will look to improve his goal contribution for the club this term.

Following the draw, Boavista, who have won just one game, sit in 13th place in the Portuguese Primeira Liga standings, with five points from opening five games.
