After several years of being linked with a move to Old Trafford, Denzel Dumfries is now warming to the idea.
A fresh update from the ever-reliable David Ornstein this evening has revealed that Dumfries has closed the door on contract negotiations with Inter Milan until the window has closed, as he now favours an exit after three years at the club.
Inter are, expectedly, doing their utmost to agree new terms with the Dutch international to ensure he does not leave for free this time next year. Should they continue to see their attempts rebuffed, a sale this summer may be the most suitable option for all parties.
That’s where Manchester United come in. The 20-time champions are said to carry ‘particular appeal’ to Dumfries, who has played an integral role for the San Siro outfit and his national team in recent years.

Potential Dumfries pursuit hinges on one Red
However, a switch to United is only possible if Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s prospective transfer to West Ham falls through, with personal terms yet to be agreed. He would prefer a move to Inter, which could see Dumfries head the other way.
In terms of United’s stance, their priority as it stands is sanctioning the arrival of Noussair Mazraoui and selling Wan-Bissaka separately.
