Nigerian duo Asisat Oshoala and Uchenna Kanu are far behind in the USA’s National Women’s Soccer League goal chart, which is dominated by African players, according to PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

After 18 rounds of matches, the 14-team league is fast shaping up, and players are staking their places for individual prizes as well.

Racing Louisville’s forward Kanu is the highest-placed of the duo, sitting 18th on the chart with five goals in 12 appearances.

Kanu scored her fifth of the season in Racing Louisville’s 3-1 win over the Chicago Red Stars last week.

Bay FC forward Oshoala has not been in her lethal form in the USA, sitting 32nd with just three goals in 17 appearances.

The Super Falcons star is known to be prolific, scoring 117 goals across 162 matches for former club Barcelona.

KC’s current striker and Malawi international Temwa Chawinga, is top of the chart with 14 goals in 18 appearances. She is followed by Zambia and Orlando Pride forward Barbra Banda.

Chawinga pulled clear of Banda by netting her 13th goal of the season in the Kansas City Current’s 4-1 defeat to the Washington Spirit last week. The Malawian also has six assists.

Oshoala’s Bay FC teammate and the most expensive player in women’s football history, Racheal Kundananji, has also scored three goals in 18 appearances, sitting 38th in the chart.

There are eight more rounds of matches to go in the NWSL season.
