Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola,
A former lawmaker representing Obokun State Constituency in Osun State House of Assembly, Mr Olatunbosun Oyintiloye has said the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola would contest and win the 2026 Governorship Election in the state.
Oyintiloye’s statement was in reaction to insinuations going round purporting that Oyetola, who served as the state governor between November 27, 2018, and November 26, 2022, having lost the July 17, 2022, Governorship Poll to Ademola Adeleke, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, was uninterested in the 2026 APC ticket.
The ex-lawmaker in a statement obtained in Osogbo on Wednesday, said Oyetola should have the right of first refusal of the APC 2026 governorship ticket, noting that so far, there were no indications that the former governor would reject the opportunity to run as APC candidate.
He also said that Oyetola, was prepared to end the reign of the Peoples Democratic Party-led administration in the state come 2026, adding that in preparation for the task, the former governor has commenced consultation with major stakeholders to evaluate and appraise the strength and the challenges of the APC across local government areas in the state.
“This strategic framework will serve as a guide in defining our vision and goals as a party. We are more than prepared to wrestle power from PDP in 2026, and the people of the state are eagerly waiting to see that happen. Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola will contest and win the 2026 governorship election in Osun.
“He holds the right of first refusal. He is already doing his background work. He has commenced consultation, looking at the strengths and challenges before us as a party. He is prepared and he is going back to Oke Fia Government House in 2026,” Oyintiloye said.
Insisting that Oyetola remains the best candidate for APC at the next governorship poll in Osun, Oyintiloye said during his four-year tenure, the state witnessed a steady transformation in areas of health, education, agriculture, infrastructure and rural community development, among others.
He also noted that despite receiving a meagre allocation from the federation account, Oyetola, leveraging rich experience garnered from both the private and public sectors over the years, was able to utilise the available resources in such a way that all the sectors felt positive impacts.
He subsequently called on APC members in the state to remain united and support Oyetola towards the quest to win the next governorship poll in the state.
