Brazilian President Lula da Silva has boldly pleaded for Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior and others not to be part of the national team.

Vinicius Jr is absent from the current squad, for the October qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, due to an injury contracted with Los Blancos.

His decision not to travel was met with some criticism despite his club’s strong case for the omission. Brazil secured a 2-1 away win in Chile in midweek, with local duo Luiz Henrique and Igor Jesus on goal, to secure a crucial win in Santiago,

Lula gave his opinion on more players playing in Brazil getting a chance with the Samba Boys rather than stars based in Europe.

Vinicius Junior kicked out of Brazil?

“Those who are abroad are no better than those who are here“, he thundered according to the words of Diario Sport.

“There are no Garrinchas or Romarios playing in Europe, only young players, who are not yet stars. In Brazil there are good players of the same quality, so we have to give chances to those who are here. »

Brazil will close the October international window with a home match against Peru on October 16 in Brasilia.
