Following the demise of the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, a prince in the Bilagbayo Ruling House, Femi Omoniyi, has urged kingmakers in Ijesaland to embrace equity and justice in the selection of a new king.

Omoniyi made the call in a statement on Wednesday.

He appealed to the kingmakers to shun any attempt by any individual, group or ruling house to downplay due process in the selection of the new Owa Obokun of Ijesaland.

Omoniyi also called for a speedy process that would result in the emergence of a successor and avert a situation where the stool would be left vacant for a long period.

He also cautioned some princes of the Bilaro ruling house against engagement in campaigns for the throne.

Omoniyi harped on adherence to equity and fairness by all concerned interests in the overall interest of Ijesa.

He said, “Ijesaland is an epitome of integrity and hard work and any attempt to pick the wrong person to ascend the throne of Owa Obokun will further polarise the entire Ijesaland and deal a devastating blow to the peace and tranquillity currently being enjoyed by all and sundry across the board.
