Hardly anyone saw Willian Pacho coming to PSG. The 22-year-old central defender could quickly be used by Luis Enrique.

In the next few hours, Willian Pacho will become Paris Saint-Germain’s third summer signing. This Thursday afternoon, the Ecuadorian international will undergo his medical before signing his five-year contract with the capital club. An operation estimated at 45 million euros, including five in bonuses.

The 22-year-old central defender arrives from Eintracht Frankfurt. “Last season he was one of the best defenders in the Bundesligaassures Felix Magath, consultant on Sky Sport in Germany, quoted by

L’Equipe. Pacho only needed a few games to adapt to the style of play in our Championship, which is much more intense than what he had experienced before, despite the language barrier and his lack of experience at the highest level.

Pacho thrown into the deep end quickly?

Arriving in Frankfurt from Royal Antwerp FC in 2023, Pacho quickly established himself within the German club. “At PSG, he will be able to confirm his great potential and take several more steps in his progression, particularly in the Champions League. He has everything he needs to make his mark there and justify the Parisians’ investment.”continues the man who was the coach of Bayern Munich between 2004 and 2007.

On Saturday, PSG will play their second and final preparation match, against RB Leipzig, after the draw in Austria on Wednesday. Luis Enrique could take advantage of this to test his new recruit before possibly using him for the first official match of the season, scheduled for August 16 on the pitch at Le Havre in Ligue 1.
