Palmeiras’ scathing response to PSG

With one week to go until the end of the transfer window, Paris Saint-Germain is seriously working behind the scenes. The capital club has especially put pressure on its advisor Luis Campos to get him to let go of players. A much-desired downsizing that would no longer concern Milan Skriniar. The Slovak is taking advantage of the fact that Paris cannot find a right-handed defender and could therefore sign on for a second season.

Regarding the arrivals, the replacement of Gonçalo Ramos is not on the agenda, but an unexpected rumor had emerged in South America. PSG would be interested in the Colombian international midfielder of Palmeiras, Richard Ríos (24 years old). Under contract until 2026, the latter would also be in the sights of AS Roma, Fiorentina and AC Milan, but Paris would have already advanced its pawns with an offer of €20 million.

Palmeiras definitively closes the door to a departure

Verdão would not be particularly keen on parting with him, since he plans to keep him to play in the Copa Libertadores. Unfortunately for the São Paulo club, he has just been knocked out of the South American C1 by John Textor’s Botafogo (2-1, 2-2). Enough to open a window of opportunity for the Red and Blue? Not really. Journalist at UOLAndré Hernan spoke with a Palmeiras manager and the response from the reigning Brazilian champion was very clear.

“Leila Pereira (the president of Palmeiras, editor’s note) has already been very clear, she has already warned everyone, all the members of the board of directors of Palmeiras, that Richard Ríos will not be sold – Palmeiras will not sell Richard Ríos. The offer of 20 million euros from PSG can arrive, Olympique de Marseille can arrive, another club can arrive, Palmeiras has no intention of selling Richard Ríos, that is already very clear internally. I even spoke to someone on the board of directors who told me. When I went to see, his response was: ‘there is no chance that Palmeiras will open negotiations with another club until the end of this window because Leila Pereira has already decreed that Richard Ríos will not be sold’.” The message got through.
