Facundo Pellistri isn’t likely to get many minutes at Manchester United, so it would arguably be best for the player to secure a loan move or maybe even leave the club permanently.
There is a good chance that Pellistri will pursue his career elsewhere as he doesn’t appear to be in the picture from what we gather from Erik ten Hag’s selections. The manager favours Amad Diallo who is trying to cement his place in the team ahead of Antony and Jadon Sancho.
It has been suggested that United would favour selling the Uruguay international, to potentially make way for another to join, with Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte still of interest to bolster Ten Hag’s midfield for the 2024/25 season.
According to The Athletic, Panathinaikos are in talks with United over a deal for Pellistri. An agreement in principle is in place between Panathinaikos and Pellistri on a four-year deal.
The report – by Mario Cortegana and Mark Critchley – states the deal has not been sealed yet and Pellistri is attracting interest from several other clubs.
It is understood that United are holding out for a fee in the region of €10 million for the winger’s signature. They are aware of the fact he has just one year remaining on his United contract with the option of a further year.
After spending the second half of last season on loan at Granada and failing to make much of an impression during pre-season, it doesn’t surprise us that United are keen to sell Pellistri. He made 14 appearances for United last season prior to his loan move to Spain, but he’d be lucky to see that amount of games this term if he remains.
