A 50-year-old man was killed in an explosion in Tel Aviv on Sunday night, while a passerby sustained injuries.
The man’s identity remains unknown.
The Shin Bet is actively investigating the incident, with police exploring all possible motives, including terrorism. The explosion damaged a truck, and authorities believe the man was carrying the explosive device, according to Haaretz.
Tel Aviv District Commander, Superintendent Peretz Amar, emphasized the importance of identifying the man to determine whether the explosion was a criminal act or an act of terrorism. “It could be terrorism or a criminal act,” Amar said, noting that the possibility of terrorism is being seriously considered.
Amar also revealed that the injured passerby was on a scooter when the explosion occurred and that police received numerous emergency calls reporting a mangled body and body parts scattered across the street.
