Ghazal maestro and playback singer Pankaj Udhas passed away on February 26 at the age of 72. His death came as a gloom to the entire film and music industry. His last rites were conducted today (27th February) and he was laid to rest with full state honours. Many known celebs like Shankar Mahadevan, Zakir Hussain, and Vidya Balan were present at the funeral to pay tribute.

The pictures and videos show the funeral procession of the singer being adorned with flowers with a picture of him in the centre. His mortal remains were wrapped in the colours of the Indian tri-colour flag.

One of the videos shows his daughter Reva Udhas and wife Farida crying inconsolably. Renowned figures like Shankar Mahadevan and Zakir Hussain and Vidya Balan were spotted at the late singer’s home, expressing their condolences and participating in the final rites. Apart from them, Shaan and Vishal Bharadwaj were also clicked at the last rites.

The news of Pankaj Udhas’ death was shared by his family in a statement on Monday. In a statement, they said, “With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhar on February 26, 2024, due to a prolonged illness.” The family revealed that the funeral will take place on Tuesday, February 27, in Mumbai.” After the news surfaced. His close friend Anup Jalota confirmed to a news portal that the veteran singer suffered pancreatic cancer.
