Paradise food court files law suit against defamatory video

A prominent restaurant in Hyderabad, Paradise Food Court, has taken legal action against a social media channel, ‘telugucrimefiles2023’, for spreading false allegations regarding the quality of its Haleem. The restaurant has filed a defamation suit amounting to Rs 3 crore, claiming that the video shared by the channel misrepresented the condition of the food served.

Following the legal proceedings, the city civil court in Secunderabad issued an order on April 4, directing the removal of the contentious video, comments, and posts targeting the restaurant. Additionally, any other defamatory content related to Paradise shared by the channels TelenganaCrimeFiles2023 and ARA TV, along with individuals Shaik Mansoor and Mahboob Hussain, must also be taken down.

The controversy arose when a customer, Mansoor Shaik, shared his negative experience with Haleem from Paradise’s Begumpet Branch during Ramzan. The social media channel ‘telugucrimefiles2023’ then uploaded a video alleging that Paradise was serving spoiled Haleem.

The court has intervened decisively, extending its action against anyone involved in disseminating the misleading video. An ad-interim injunction has been granted in favor of Paradise, restraining the channel, its owner, and associated accounts from publishing further defamatory content against the restaurant on any platform.

Paradise Food Court has accused the customer and the social media platform of colluding to extort money and tarnish the restaurant’s reputation, leading to significant financial losses. CEO Gautam Gupta emphasized the importance of this legal action as a deterrent against baseless attacks on businesses and the erosion of customer trust.
