Schools in Hyderabad are increasing fees for the upcoming academic year, with some parents reporting hikes of 15 to 20 percent. Average fees for Class 1 in mid-range schools range from Rs 60,000 to Rs 80,000 per year, while corporate schools charge from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 3 lakh annually.
One parent, Naresh, shared his shock at a Rs 1 lakh increase in fees for his younger son compared to what he paid for his elder son two years ago. The school cited added facilities like furniture and a Digi class as reasons for the hike. However, they do not provide official fee receipts, instead writing fees on a piece of paper with a school stamp.

Another parent, Sravanti, expressed concerns about the affordability of quality education for middle-class families. She noted a 20 percent increase in fees for her daughter’s school in RK Puram from last year to this year. She suggested that schools offer discounts to high-achieving students to help ease the financial burden on families.
Rayees Khan, a parent of a Class 9 student in Abids, called for mechanisms to control annual fee hikes. He highlighted the additional costs for books, uniforms, and transportation that add to the financial strain on families. Despite a Rs 1 lakh increase in fees over the last three years, he questioned the quality of education provided by the school.

Sunil Reddy, another parent from Kukatpally, shared his surprise at a 20 percent fee hike for his daughter moving from Class 3 to Class 4. He expressed frustration at the lack of explanation from the school management regarding the increase. Additionally, he discovered that the same school has different fee structures based on its location in other areas.
