In three days, PSG certainly had everything to gain but also a lot to lose. Appearing sovereign against OL on Sunday evening (3-1 victory at the Parc des Princes), the capital club was able to continue its momentum in Monaco this Wednesday, in an advanced match of the 16e day of Ligue 1 (2-4).
Despite rather contrary facts of play – and in particular this fatal controversial action at Donnarumma on which Singo, the Monegasque defender, should certainly have been sent off – the Parisians were able to open the scoring with a Doué increasingly at ease within of the red and blue collective. This logically leads to the break (0-1, 24e).
Returning from the locker room, however, ASM turned things around, obtaining a penalty for a handball from Marquinhos in the area – penalty converted by Ben Seghir (1-1, 53e) – then taking the advantage thanks to Embolo (2-1, 60e). A short-lived advantage, however, since Dembélé managed to set the record straight just four minutes later (2-2, 64e).
The competition pushed back to 10 points
In money time, barely getting into the swing of things, Ramos headed a corner to put Paris back in front on the scoreboard (2-3, 83e). And while ASM released its last forces in the battle to pick up the score, Dembélé again escaped from his camp to beat Köhn and thus seal a very important victory for PSG (2-4, 90e+7).
While waiting for the resumption of the championship at the beginning of January and the exit of OM against the HAC – while PSG and ASM will meet in Doha as part of the Champions Trophy – here are the Parisians credited with 10 lengths ahead of their pursuers from Marseille and Monaco in control of Ligue 1.
