With him soon re-joining ESPN’s College GameDay, Pat McAfee says goodbye to the WWE Universe.

Following last night’s episode of WWE Raw, commentator Pat McAfee delivered a special message to the live audience in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, specifically addressing his upcoming hiatus from WWE programming. Earlier in the day, McAfee noted that the August 19 episode of Raw would be his last for “a while.” WWE later confirmed that he’d be returning in time for Raw’s move to Netflix in January 2025. In the meantime, McAfee wanted to issue a series of thank-yous to the WWE staff and crew, with some help from the fans in attendance.

“I just want to say [thank you] to the rink crew that sets up this place every single night for everybody to enjoy the sh*t out of the show. Just want to say [thank you] to the people in the truck in the back that cut all the cameras here across the world. I just want to say [thank you] to the makeup crew. That helps me look presentable on television and everybody else. I just want to say [thank you] to the superstars in the path that lay their life on the line for the good of our entertainment, and for being so welcoming to me in all of my dumbass-ness.”

McAfee continued on to thank the producers and executives of the Gorilla position that have “shaped this industry” for decades. McAfee also noted his gratitude for the television locker room and his broadcast partner Michael Cole, who he touts as “the greatest of all-time.”

“Thank you for making me look much better and smarter than I’ll ever be,” McAfee said to Cole. “Working alongside of you has been a dream come true. I’ve been watching you on TV since before I was born. You old bastard, you’re only getting better.”

Finally, McAfee thanked the WWE Universe, vowing to see them again in January, but for now, it is goodbye.
