Patrick Dempsey is the latest star to join the cast of Dexter: Original Sin!

On Thursday (June 20), it was announced that the 58-year-old Grey’s Anatomy alum will be starring as a series regular in the upcoming prequel series to the fan-favorite Showtime series Dexter, which starred Michael C. Hall and ran from 2006 to 2013.

Keep reading to find out more…In the show, which is currently in production, Patrick will be playing Aaron Spencer, the “Captain of the Miami Metro Homicide who has a decades-long relationship with Christian Slater’s Harry Morgan,” according to Variety.

Set in 1991, 15 years before the events of Dexter, the series follows Dexter (Gibson) as he “transitions from student to avenging serial killer,” per the official logline. “When his bloodthirsty urges can’t be ignored any longer, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness. With the guidance of his father, Harry (Slater), he adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without getting on law enforcements’ radar. This is a particular challenge for young Dexter as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.”
