Patrick J Adams is opening up about having to bare all during a production of Take Me Out. The 43-year-old actor made his Broadway debut as Kippy Sunderstrom in the 2022 revival of the play, which earned a Tony award for Best Revival of a Play. In the baseball locker room-set play, several characters appear on stage in the nude, including Patrick‘s. During a recent appearance on his co-star Jesse Tyler Ferguson‘s Dinner’s On Me podcast, Patrick opened up about the first time he went full nude during rehearsals and how he overcame the nerve-wracking notion of being naked on stage. Keep reading to find out more… “When Scott Ellis, the director, came and asked me to do Take Me Out, it was the same thing. I told him, I don’t know that I, I was like, I love that you’re asking me, and it would be an honor. I just don’t know that I can do it,” Patrick told JTF, referring to having panic attacks on stage. “But he said, this is your chance to fix that, essentially. And so I was terrified, obviously, the idea of facing that down let alone in a play where we had to be naked every night.” Jesse then shared a story about how Patrick was the first and only actor to go full nude during rehearsals for Take Me Out. On going nude, Patrick stated he had to block out the nerves. “I don’t want my clothes off. I want to wear all my clothes. I want layers,” he said. “And so to have to like be in front of that many people every night, like, it was so intense that like I do feel like I had to go into like a different It’s almost weird because while you would think that would be the most nerve wracking part of of the night “It was so intense that I think I actually truly had to leave my body every night,” he added.
