Paul Heyman is one of the most legendary figures in wrestling, and if you ask him, he says it’s because he didn’t want a real job.

Speaking to Jazzy’s World TV, WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman discussed his success. He said that he believes his success is due to the fact that he “never really wanted” a normal job. Instead, he listened to his parents’ advice and simply did whatever he wanted to do. (H/t Jeremy Lambert of Fightful for the transcription)

“I think I’m successful because I never really wanted a real job in my life,” Paul Heyman said. “And I have successfully avoided having a real job for the entire width of my existence. It was probably from my mother saying, ‘You’re a schmuck, nobody is going to like you. Do what you want to do with your life anyway.'”

Paul Heyman was been absent from WWE programming since The Bloodline attacked him on the June 28 episode of WWE SmackDown. Fans have been buzzing about his looming return since Roman Reigns came back at WWE SummerSlam.
