EXCLUSIVE: Actor and comedian Paul Reiser is back behind the mic with Life, Death and Rice Pudding, a new stand-up special for Comedy Dynamics, which is his first in over three decades. Directed by Comedy Dynamics CEO Brian Volk-Weiss, the special premieres across platforms on November 19. Check out a trailer above.

Reiser’s new hour comes on the heels of Paul Reiser: 3 ½ Blocks from Home and Paul Reiser: Out on a Whim, which were respectively released in 1991 and 1987. In it, he discloses the secret to successful downsizing, explains why the whole “Do unto others” thing doesn’t work in marriage, and why boiling pasta naked is never a good idea. And for absolutely no additional charge, you will come to understand why finding raisins in rice pudding underscores the very meaning of life.

Volk-Weiss and Reiser exec produced alongside Cisco Henson, Michael Pelmont, and Doug Edley.

“I had so much fun making this special that I’m thinking seriously of pursuing this professionally!” Reiser joked. “But seriously grateful to Comedy Dynamics for making it such a smooth ride. I hope we don’t wait another 30 years for the next one.”

Stated Volk-Weiss, “It’s always fun and an honor to work with Paul on everything we’ve done together over the years, but this one is extra special because it’s his first new comedy special in 30 years! The fact that he trusted me to direct still blows my mind!”

An 11-time Emmy nominee, known for films like Beverly Hills Cop and series like Mad About You, Reiser is coming off of Netflix’s Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, which saw him reprise opposite Eddie Murphy. Recently, he’s also been seen on Steven Levitan’s Hulu comedy Reboot, Amazon’s The Boys, and Stranger Things and The Kominsky Method on Netflix, earning an Emmy nom for Outstanding Supporting Actor for his work on the latter.

Reiser’s new film The Problem with People, which he wrote, produced and stars in opposite Jane Levy and Colm Meaney, premiered at the 2023 Austin Film Festival and was released in theaters on October 4. The comedic multi-hyphenate is repped by Gersh, New Wave Entertainment, Rob Weisbach Creative Management, and Del Shaw Mooves.
