Manchester United legend Paul Scholes was impressed by Sofyan Amrabat’s performance against Man City in Saturday’s 2-1 FA Cup final win.
The Reds put on an impressive display to defeat City at Wembley, providing a shock as most had Pep Guardiola’s side as clear favourites to lift the trophy.
Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo scored in the first-half to give United a comfortable two-goal lead at the break.
However, City pulled one back through Jeremy Doku in the 87th minute, but it was too little to late to change the outcome of the game as United went on to secure Ten Hag’s second trophy in as many years.
Amrabat was one of the standout performers on the day.
The Morocco international, who is set to return to Fiorentina this summer, controlled the midfield and kept City’s best players – including Kevin De Bruyne – at bay throughout the game.
While we rated Amrabat 9/10 for his display against City, former United midfielder Paul Scholes drew comparison with AC Milan legend Gennaro Gattuso.
Scholes posted a picture of Amrabat lifting the FA Cup, with the caption: “Like a prime Gattuso today.”
Even though Amrabat was one of the top players on the pitch yesterday, I would be shocked if he stayed at United beyond his loan spell.
