Chairman of the National Reconciliation Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has dismissed claims that the party plans to suspend the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike and other members.

Naija News understands that the rumored suspension stems from allegations that Wike and three former governors worked against the PDP during the 2023 general elections.

Speaking after a meeting with members of the National Assembly on Monday, Oyinlola characterized the speculation as mere rumor.

He stated, “Until after the committee’s meeting on Tuesday with the National Working Committee (NWC), I will regard Wike’s suspension as nothing more than rumors.”

Oyinlola, a former governor of Osun State, explained that the meeting with lawmakers focused on understanding the political challenges facing the party and finding ways to revitalize its fortunes.

We have had useful discussions and received valuable suggestions on how to unite our party and make it a formidable force again,” he said.

He stressed that unity is crucial for the party’s success, adding, “For any party to go into battle and win, it must be united. That is our goal.”

Oyinlola also revealed that the reconciliation committee had completed a tour of the South West, where the party is strategizing for the upcoming Ondo State governorship election scheduled for November 16.

However, he refrained from revealing specific strategies, noting, “As a general with 30 years of experience, you don’t reveal your strategy publicly if you want to win the war.”
