The National Disciplinary Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party has adjourned its sitting for two weeks to allow former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, and the embattled National Secretary of the party, Samuel Anyanwu, to prepare for their appearance.

The adjournment was announced on Wednesday after a three-hour closed-door deliberation at the Legacy House, Maitama, Abuja.

Addressing journalists after the meeting, the Chairman, Chief Tom Ikimi, revealed that Anyanwu.had written to the committee, citing health challenges and attaching medical reports as evidence.

“The former National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, sent us a letter stating that he was unwell and had a medical challenge. He backed it up with letters from his doctors,” Ikimi said.

On Ortom’s case, Ikimi noted that the former governor claimed he did not receive the committee’s invitation, despite records showing it was sent via DHL and acknowledged.

“Ortom said he did not receive the letter, but we have evidence that it was sent through DHL and received.

“However, since he insists he did not get it, we want to be fair to everyone. We have now deferred the meeting to March 4, 2025,” he added.

When asked if the committee would summon party members accused of anti-party activities dating back to 2015, Ikimi clarified that the panel only acts upon receiving formal petitions.

“ We can only act when we receive petitions. Until we get a petition, we don’t invite,” he said.
