A Peoples Democratic Party stalwart in Rivers State, Mina Horsfall has praised Governor Siminalayi Fubara on the peaceful conduct of the local government election held in the state on Saturday, October 5, 2024.
In her congratulatory message a copy of which was obtained by our correspondent in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on Tuesday, Horsfall described the governor as “a man of action who talks less.”
She congratulated him for conducting what she described as the most peaceful election in Rivers’ history, fulfilling his oath to put Rivers State first.
She also congratulated the elected Mayor of Port Harcourt, Ichemati Ezebunwo; Ahoada West chairman, Iyekor Ikporo and other elected chairmen, including the females and the winners of councillorship seats across parties.
The Kalabari-born politician said, “Fubara’s achievement has earned her accolades as ‘The People’s Servant,’ and ‘The Liberator.’
“Against all odds, the Action Peoples Party made a sweeping victory in Rivers State’s local government elections, winning 22 out of 23 local government areas.
“This outcome is quite remarkable, taking into consideration the party’s relatively unknown status before the election.
“The APP’s success is largely attributed to the indirect support of Governor Fubara, which has potentially made history and paved the way for a new political structure in the state.
Horsfall commended the chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, Adolphus Enebeli, for the successful conduct of the election, which saw the APP win 22 chairmanship positions, except Etche Local Government Area, whose results are yet to be announced as of press time.
She described the poll as smooth, safe, free, fair, credible, transparent, and violence-free and wished the new leaders a successful tenure, calling it “a breath of fresh air” for Rivers State.
