Pedro Porro has laughed off criticism from Tim Sherwood after he was told he will let Tottenham down and is 'not a good defender'.

The ex-Spurs manager has been a long-term critic of the right-back, and remains sceptical of the 24-year-old despite his impressive season.

Porro linked up with the north London outfit from Sporting Lisbon in last year's winter transfer window, where he initially struggled to adapt to English football.

A poor debut in the 4-1 defeat away at Leicester led Sherwood to state his performance was 'disgusting' and 'so bad it’s unbelievable'.

But the Spain international has been one of the club's standout players this term - chipping in with seven assists from 20 Premier League games.

It is not just the most assists from a defender this term, but more than any other Spurs defender in a single top-flight season.

And despite winning 106 duels and boasting a tackle success rate of 70 per cent, former Tottenham boss Sherwood has doubled down on his opinion of Porro.

He recently told Premier League Productions after Spurs' 2-2 draw at Manchester United: "I was very critical early doors of Pedro Porro and I still am. I think he’s not a good defender.

“When he is asked to defend, as we saw in this game as well, he will let you down.

"But going forward and expressing, the fitness, the ability on the ball and the range of passing, it’s fantastic. The manager has recognised that and he is playing him to his strengths."

Resisting the temptation to hit back at Sherwood, Porro instead decided to laugh off the views of the ex-Blackburn skipper.

Replying to a post on X of Sherwood's comments, he instead posted a laughing face emoji followed by a hand heart emoji.

Fans were loving his response, as one user said: "We love you, Pedro."

Another messaged: "Pedro living rent free in Sherwood's empty head."

A third added: "I am glad you have thick skin."

Meanwhile this supporter stated: "Great response… you are a legend."
