Barcelona’s interest in former youth product Dani Olmo is an open secret by now.

The Catalan giants are aware that they must rectify their faults from last season and one of the ways they intend to do that is by equipping newly appointed Hansi Flick with the best personnel.

Flick’s fondness for a vertical and attacking style of play was well-documented during his time at Bayern Munich.

As such, the potential arrival of Olmo is seen as a crucial move to enhance the team’s creativity and goalscoring threat in the final third, aligning perfectly with Flick’s philosophy.

Barcelona make second bid for Olmo

Barcelona’s first bid for Olmo included a deal of €40 million, payable in four annual instalments, plus an additional €20 million in performance-based bonuses.

However, RB Leipzig deemed the bid insufficient and since then, Barça have continued to hold negotiations with Olmo’s agents and finalize personal terms.

Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have thoroughly discussed the potential transfer with Dani Olmo and his representatives, addressing all aspects of the deal.

The Catalan giants have now submitted a second offer to RB Leipzig and are awaiting the club’s response.

It remains to be seen if Leipzig will consider the second bid acceptable, especially with several financially superior clubs also competing for the Spanish player’s signature.

Still, Barcelona can take solace in the fact that Olmo’s desire to return to his boyhood club gives them a significant advantage over their competitors.

In any case, the club is eager to wrap up the signing of Nico Williams, with clarity over his future expected to be achieved soon.

Once the Basque winger’s next destination is known, a more concretized approach for Olmo will be launched.
