Potential veep candidate Pete Buttigieg was spotted out in NYC this week with his former communications adviser Lis Smith.

Sources said that jaws dropped seeing the pols at Piggyback — the hip Chelsea spot by “Top Chef” alum Leah Cohen.

The Beltway insiders “walked in with two big cops,” said a spy. “Super weird . . . but Pete talked to the bartender for a while” and “shook hands [with] people in the kitchen when he was leaving. Nice dude.”

The source said the secretary of transportation, who’s being considered as Kamala Harris’ running mate, “seemed really nice and low-key,” and that he and the former Bill de Blasio consultant (who once dated Eliot Spitzer) pow-wowed in a back part of the eatery.

Cocktails at the spot include specialty drinks called, “Make Me a Bicycle,” “WTF, Gatsby,” “I’m On the List” and “Rain Delay.”

The dinner menu includes delicacies like Korean honey butter wings, shrimp fried rice, crispy Taiwanese porkchop, Malaysian fried chicken and steak frites.
