PGA Awards Postpones Nominations Announcement Due To L.A. Wildfires

The Producers Guild has pushed the nominations for its annual awards show to Sunday, January 12, due to the ongoing devastating Los Angeles wildfires.

In a statement Thursday morning, the guild said, “Due to LA County wildfires, the Producers Guild of America will be extending the voting window for the PGA Awards by two days until Saturday, January 11 to allow members additional time to cast their ballots. The official PGA Awards nominations will now be announced on Sunday, January 12.”

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences announced Wednesday that it has moved the Oscar nominations announcement from Friday, January 17, to Sunday, January 19. It also extended the Oscars voting period by two days to 5 p.m. PT January 14 at 5 p.m. PT.

The WGA Awards also announced Wednesday it has pushed its nominations announcement to Monday, January 13, due to the fires.

Nearly 2,000 structures have been destroyed since the fierce wind-driven fires broke out Tuesday. Five people have died, five firefighters have been injured and tens of thousands of people have been forced from their homes. All told, more than 37,000 acres have burned.
