As a result, they are able to sign the biggest names in wrestling and it can be an important time when one of them signs a top star. Both companies appear to be interested in signing a major name and one of them seems to believe they are ahead in the race.

As of this week, former IWGP World Champion Kazuchika Okada is a free agent, though he still has a few matches scheduled with New Japan Pro Wrestling. According to Fightful Select, WWE has been in talks with Okada, who has also talked to wrestlers on the roster to help make up his mind. On the other hand, AEW believes they are likely to sign Okada, to the point where they have tentative plans in place for his debut. There is no word on when Okada will decide to sign a new contract with a new promotion.
