Pixar Eying Sequels for 'Finding Nemo' & 'The Incredibles,' Depending on Success of 'Inside Out 2'

Pixar hinted at plans for the future, which involve revisiting some of their most iconic films for new movies.

A report by Bloomberg noted that “every hit of yesteryear is being considered for a reboot.” Finding Nemo and The Incredibles could lead the charge.

The franchises last dropped Finding Dory in 2016 and The Incredibles 2 in 2018, but the stories could pick up again moving forward.

Pixar’s president Jim Morris told the outlet that there are plans to release three movies every two years and to alternate between reboots and new stories.

The plan could very easily change if Inside Out 2 performs poorly, like their Toy Story spinoff Lightyear.

Senior vice president of development Lindsey Collins made it clear that the company had learned they needed to deliver more than just nostalgia to fill seats in a theater.

“The other day, I was like, ‘What if I told you we were making an Incredibles 3?’” she said about a conversation with her young song. “And he was like, ‘Money grab.’ And I was like, ‘F—.’ Sequels are a double-edged sword, because the audience can be brutal and so quick to judge. Unless they’re worthy.”

Inside Out 2 premieres in theaters on June 14 with five of the main stars returning. Find out who is back and who has been replaced. You can also check out the trailer.
