Traveling to Bournemouth this Saturday late in the afternoon, Manchester City had the opportunity to catch up with Liverpool while the Cityzens were four points behind the Reds at the start of the match. Eager to return to victory, the locals, unable to win in their last six Premier League matches, started the match with good intentions. Thus, Milos Kerkez (10th) responded with a heavy strike after the first missed attempt by Erling Haaland (8th). However, as is often the case with Pep Guardiola’s gang, intentions are not enough. Clumsy a few minutes earlier, Phil Foden opened the scoring by showing himself opportunistic after an attempt poorly repelled by Neto (0-1, 24th).

A ninth goal this season for the Englishman, close to the double just before the break on two occasions (39th, 43rd). Technically calamitous in the first period, the Cherries then became more dangerous after returning from the locker room and several opportunities could have allowed them to equalize via Kluivert (51st), Tavernier (55th, 59th) and Solanke (66th). At the end of the match, Dango Ouattara (85th) and Enes Unal (90+1st) narrowly failed to equalize. Ultimately, the score did not change and thanks to a Phil Foden in his prime, Man City temporarily returned to a small Liverpool unit despite an average performance this Saturday. Bournemouth was not unworthy but fell to fourteenth place.
