After the victories of Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal, Newcastle, seventh at kick-off, challenged Everton, sixteenth, at Goodison Park. A perilous move for Eddie Howe’s men, aligned in 4-3-3 with Barnes, Gordon and Murphy on the front of the attack. Overall dominant during the first act, the Magpies however lacked precision in the last gesture and were logically held in check at the break.

Returning from the locker room, Sean Dyche’s Toffees, determined to go for a third match without defeat, continued to hold their own against the Toons. Despite the pressure put on by the visitors, the score barely changed and the two teams ultimately shared the points (0-0). In the standings, Everton remains 16th. Newcastle are 6th.
