Senior Pastor and Founder of The Covenant Nation, Poju Oyemade, on Thursday, decried that many youths have serious challenges with anger management, which is reflected in their daily engagement on social media.

Oyemade raised the alarm at the closing ceremony of a four-day International Conference of the African Biblical Leadership Initiative scheduled in Abuja.

The ABLI-themed ‘Value-based leadership model for Africa’ attracted several African and European leaders as well as global Christian leaders.

In his keynote address, the guest speaker pleaded with youths, whom he described as the future leaders of the country to borrow a leaf from the level of maturity exhibited by Elihu, the son of Barachel, in the Book of Job, even amid provocation.

The preacher appealed that the anger vented by the aggrieved youth should instead be channelled to seeking solutions to whatever is fuelling it.

He said, “Let me say something here for young people because it is all about emerging leadership. I know a lot of young people have this anger in their hearts, particularly in Nigeria that people feel on social media that the older generation ruined the country. So they are angry.

“We are not called to the ministry of condemnation. Condemning what is wrong is not enough until we provide a solution to the situation. What Elihu was saying was that they were busy condemning Job instead of seeking a solution.

“Don’t let this anger turn into condemnation or you saying somebody is mad. So it is a call to our younger generation to provide a solution. Condemning an entire generation is not what we are sent to do. It is not anger that should be a valued proposition but light.”
