Pokémon‘s Latest Giant Plush Is Basically Human-Sized

For the past few years, the Pokémon Company has released a line of adorable plush collections that test your fandom of a particular critter to the extreme: sure, you like a Pokémon, but do you like them enough to own a life-sized version of them? But now one of the biggest entries in the line is starting to reach actual human heights.

Last night the Pokémon Company revealed that the gen 6 psychic-type Gardevoir will be the latest Pokémon to join its life-sized plush line. Retailing for 49,500 yen (that’s around $320) and clocking in at roughly 63 inches, Gardevoir will be one of the largest Pokémon available in the line so far, rivaled only by the likes of the life-sized Furret (71″ long), or the not-life-sized, but still comically sized Gigantamax Meowth (65″, or approximately 1:20 scale to its official height!). But all of the similarly sized stuffed toys, Gardevoir is the only one of a similar scale that’s actually meant to be stood upright and bipedal—the biggest of these ginormous plushies are all sizable in length rather than height, like Wailord or Arcanine. At almost 5’3″, Gardevoir is in the range of average heights for fully-grown people!

For what is already a pretty humanoid Pokémon design, it’s almost like just having a very soft, non-sentient extra person in your house. The previous life-sized plushes were still at least on the side of essentially being giant cushions, but all the “real life” product shots for Gardevoir just have them sitting on actual human furniture and just hanging out, silently, psionically contemplating the world around them. Where would you put one? Would you move them around your home, Elf on the Shelf style, but not really hidden because it’s a 5’3″ Pokémon!?

We’ll have to wait and see what not-so-pocket monster will come next to top the literal absurd heights of Gardevoir. Maybe we’ll get a Gallade to match? In the mean time, orders for the life-sized Gardevoir plush will launch in Japan next week, on February 6, with orders in the U.S. and other parts of the world presumably coming at a later date.
