The Kano State Police Command has arrested 17 suspected thugs over an alleged plot to instigate a violent protest in the state capital.
The suspects were nabbed on Wednesday following credible intelligence reports, according to a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, SP Abdullahi Haruna.
Haruna said the arrests were made in collaboration with other security agencies, which had deployed personnel and assets to strategic locations across Kano metropolis to prevent a breakdown of law and order.
“As a result of these proactive measures, 17 suspected thugs have been arrested, and an investigation is ongoing. The command is committed to ensuring that the perpetrators of this planned violence are brought to justice,” the statement read.
The police warned against unlawful gatherings, processions, or any acts capable of disrupting public peace, vowing to respond decisively to any attempts to incite violence.
“We urge residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies. The command appreciates the cooperation and support of the good people of Kano State in maintaining peace and order,” Haruna added.
