The Bauchi State Police Command has disclosed significant achievements in its crime prevention efforts for 2024, highlighting the effectiveness of its community policing strategy.

According to the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO Ahmed Wakil, a total of 1,182 cases were recorded, resulting in the arrest of 2,322 suspects.

He explained that of these, 678 cases and 895 suspects were charged to court, with 48 cases culminating in successful convictions.

Wakil also reported the recovery of various exhibits, including firearms, ammunition, vehicles, and cash.

“These recoveries were made possible through critical information provided by the public and the Command’s intelligence-led policing efforts.

“In addition to its crime prevention successes, the Command has also taken steps to address instances of professional misconduct within its ranks. A total of 18 personnel have undergone internal disciplinary measures, including dismissals, rank reductions, and warnings,” the PPRO stated.

He maintained that the Command’s Complaint Response Unit, CRU, has also played a critical role in addressing public complaints against officer misconduct, resulting in the recovery of N784,000 from implicated officers.

He revealed that as the Command looks to the future, it remains committed to continuing its internal disciplinary procedures and building upon its successes in 2024.

He said, “We are fully prepared and equipped for 2025.

“We will deploy further strategies to safeguard lives and property while maintaining our commitment to accountability and transparency.”
